UPDATE 2-28-12: The Art Aloft Show was a lot of fun and a great experience. I was really pleased that "Misty Stilly" (the image shown above) was awarded 2nd Place in the photography category. Members of the Art Guild got together Friday afternoon to set up the show. This included putting up all the grid walls and lighting and hanging all the art. Judging was that evening. While the judges were busy looking at all the fine art work, the members of the guild that had set up the show gathered in the hall's kitchen to share a meal and visit. Exhibiting my photography and winning an award was certainly the highlight of the show, but the camaraderie of the guild members was icing on the cake. I really enjoyed getting the chance to get to know other members of the guild and work with them. The group is very diverse in their experience and interests, but they all seem very open and accommodating to new members, and members that may have less experience creating and showing art. I look forward to getting more involved with the guild in the future. My next chance comes in April when we open a gallery during the annual Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. Look for more about that adventure in the future.
